Preconstruction Manager

Are you a driven and results-oriented individual in Construction?  We are seeking a dynamic Preconstruction Manager with strong leadership and values to join our Wales & West team based out of Exeter. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering the preconstruction phases of a large scale healthcare scheme, in the south west while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.


You will lead a team and be responsible for a critical healthcare project of up to £200M based in Cornwall.


Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, you will be responsible for:



  • Bid Strategy: Lead the Preconstruction team through a successful NHP Stage 0 and 1, and into the main contract, ensuring profitability, timeliness, and alignment with company objectives.

  • Leadership: Foster a high-performing team environment, providing guidance, coaching, and resources to ensure success in project delivery.

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek feedback, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance bid quality and competitiveness.

  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential business opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate with senior management to allocate resources effectively, ensuring optimal support.

  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal requirements, contractual obligations, and industry standards, promoting a culture of innovation and quality excellence.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential skills:



  • Expert knowledge of bid processes and construction industry practices.

  • Strong leadership, collaboration and project management skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, both written and verbal.


Desirable skills:



  • MCIOB/RICS membership or similar certification (desirable).
