Willmott Dixon’s approach to social value ensures that, as well as delivering Brilliant Buildings for our customers, we leave a positive legacy. We work closely with our customers and local stakeholders to ensure that our projects create meaningful social, economic and environmental benefits for local communities.

Collaboration is key. By working closely with customers, supply chain partners, social enterprises, charities, and other organisations – we can achieve more than we can on our own.

Having a purpose beyond profit has never been more vital than it is in the present climate. In 2022, the stakes increased in what has already been a turbulent decade. The war in Ukraine and global energy crisis have increased fuel and food costs, casting a shadow over everyday life with some of our poorest communities hit hardest. In the face of the challenges confronting our customers and their communities, we will always look to offer long-term, sustainable solutions to support people and communities.

Here is a summary of our activities during 2022:

We use the Government's social value model to guide our business practices. We identify, measure, and monitor the social, economic, and environmental impacts of our projects, beyond just the financial bottom line, so we can understand what interventions are most effective and continuously improve what we do. That way, we can really help the people and businesses in our communities to thrive.

We pride ourselves on accurate reporting that truly reflects our social impact. We are one of the only contractors to conduct regular internal audits and have our data externally verified. We also assess the impact of our activities using qualitative feedback assessment and social return on investment accounting using the externally verified National TOMs (Themes Measures and Outcomes) proxy values. Our data ensures that:

        1. We can accurately report our performance against the promises that we have made to our customers and their communities
        2. We can drive year-on-year improvements towards our 2030 ambitions
