We spend over £3m every day on goods, works and services – and have one of the best records for prompt payment in the industry, according to BuildUK's regular performance tables.

We build strong, open and positive relationships with supply chain partners that share our values, to make them an integral part of our business. We do this through early engagement, collaboration and access to key business initiatives.

Our top tier partners can expect, where appropriate, their own relationship manager who is there to answer queries and resolve any issues. We invite our top tier partners to conferences, award ceremonies and workshops.

To work with the right partners in line with our sustainable procurement policy, we evaluate and procure work according to the following criteria:

• Do you have a full and relevant environmental policy?
• Can you work and engage with SMEs and Social Businesses?
• Do you maintain a fully trained and competent workforce?
• Is your business committed to carbon reporting and reduction?

Fair Payment Code

On the 3rd December 2024, the Office of the Small Business Commissioner (OSBC) launched the Fair Payment Code (FPC) which replaced the voluntary, but industry standard, Prompt Payment Code (PPC).

The new voluntary FPC further seeks to encourage all businesses across the UK to pay their supply chain promptly, and Willmott Dixon has achieved the bronze award standard in the new code. This means that, like the PPC, we are committed to paying at least 95% of all invoices within 60 days.

In addition, we abide by the code’s principles of being “Clear, Fair and Collaborative” with our suppliers, as well committing to a set of expected behaviours:

• contracts should be clear and understandable
• everyone should know the payment terms and when money will arrive
• payment disputes should be avoided and resolved quickly if they do arise
